| 内容記述 | In 2020, online classes in higher education became necessary because of COVID-19. This had a considerable impact on active learning, which fosters mutual understanding through peer communication. The purpose of this study was to examine Teams as a tool for online group discussions and to explore its educational value in higher education. In “Psychology of Communication”, students participated in presentations and small group discussions in two of 15 remote classes by using the functions of Teams’ Breakout Room. The final 230 reports were analyzed to reveal the educational value of the new attempts. The results revealed three primary things students learned during group discussions, which were expression and steps to facilitate discussion smoothly, respecting various values, and the importance of ice-breakers and self-disclosure. However, the disadvantages associated with online discussions included communication difficulties such as anxiety for others’ lack of reactions and understanding when the camera is off. Based on those findings, effective instruction should be developed. |
