| 内容記述 | France’s Parliament are debating a bill allowing patients at the end of their life or on the verge of death to enter a “deep sleep” right through to the moment they die, id est, to request to start sedation that is deep and continues until death. What is a differ-rence between terminal sedation and voluntary euthanasia? We know that meaningful ethical and legal differences may exist between intended and unintended consequences of them and that the double effect might be a useful conception even if some have argued against its moral importance. The ethical and legal debate about hastening death for terminally ill patients may also focus upon the extension of them to persons who are not near to death, here lies the slippery slope, rather than upon often meaningless and subtle moral distinctions between intent and outcome or between slow and fast euthanasia. | |||||
