| 内容記述 | The Extended Projection Principle (EPP) essentially operates in the syntax. In the recent framework of the minimalist syntax, the EPP is treated as a feature requiring an overt element in the Spec position of a projection. This paper proposes two types of EPP-feature. One is a feature requiring an overt element in the Spec position of a functional projection and the other is a feature requiring an overt element in the head position of a functional projection. The different specification of tbe two types EPP-features provides a systematic account for the cross-linguistic variation concerning interrogative C, distribution of a complementizer, (un-) availability of the complementizer that in an embedded clause, and diachronic change concerning it. | |||||
