In recent years, the importance of remote learning classes and their accompanying instructional videos has increased along with the advancement of Internet infrastructure. It is too challenging for teachers to estimate the degree of student comprehension through their reactions in such a class. This study aims to clarify the fundamental relationship between learners’ facial expressions and their understanding by using AI for facial expressions and emotion recognition. Consequently,it is found that in STEM subjects, facial expressions such as “pushing down the corners of the lips,” and in humanities subjects,“closing the eyes” were strongly correlated with understanding. |
