This paper proposes that lexical items consist of two kinds of features: syntactic feature and semantic feature. Syntactic structures created by computation in the pluralized workspaces are transferred to Externalized Syntax (ES), a grammatical level where movement and word order determination are applied. The transferred structures, consisting of syntactic features and semantic features, undergo association with phonological features in the rule component of Broca’s area, leading to their phonetic realization. The association between the semantic feature of a word and a phonological feature can be blocked due to feature hierarchy. The lower-ranked semantic feature cannot be associated with a phonological feature over the head of the higher-ranked semantic features. The complementizer “that,” which is employed only as a pure subordinator, can be deleted. This deletion is a product of the late 16th century.
